Membership
A.
Qualifications
1.
A person who wishes to unite with Refuge General Baptist Church
must express that desire to the Pastor or deacons.
2.
Those uniting with Refuge must be a born again Christian,
displaying the morals and character that Bible teaches and that Jesus
Christ exemplified.
3.
They must agree to abide and uphold the General Baptist Statement
of Faith, Church Covenant and Church Purpose.
4.
Membership requires that a person be baptized by immersion.
Baptism of other denominations may be accepted as valid, provided such
baptism was of immersion and in accordance with General Baptist
Doctrine.
5.
Members are also received by letter or by recommendation from a
Bible teaching church.
6.
Membership may also join Refuge with a personal recommendation by
a present active member of Refuge who will verify the salvation,
baptism, and character of the applicant.
B.
Receiving Membership
1.
Upon presenting yourself to the church for membership a vote will
be taken consisting of those members present.
2.
A unanimous vote is required. However, if a negative vote is
cast the person or persons who cast the vote must state the reason for
the negative vote. Upon evaluation the church has the right to override
the negative vote if it considers an injustice is being done with a
majority vote.
C.
How Membership is Terminated
1.
A member may ask for their name to be dropped from the Church
roll at any time they wish.
2.
A member’s name will be dropped from the roll by transferring
their membership to another church by letter of recommendation of
Refuge.
3.
A member may be removed by a majority vote of members present
upon proof of immoral conduct without repentance.
